Rakuten Group announced on the 10th that the number of mobile phone subscribers of Rakuten Mobile under its umbrella reached 5.46 million as of the end of June 2022. This is a decrease of 220,000 from the end of March this year. This is the first time that the number of subscribers has decreased on a quarterly basis since the company made a full-scale entry into the mobile business in April 2020.

In May of this year, Rakuten Mobile announced that it would abolish plans that charge 0 yen for up to 1 gigabyte (GB) of data usage per month at the end of June. Users may have flowed out to other companies due to the fading sense of bargain.
